Boycott or Buyout? 🤔

Look, this administration is doing its best to divide and conquer. I stand with my community in efforts to make effective change and to fight back against these DEI rollbacks. In that, we need to focus our attention on supporting Black-owned brands, as they’re the ones that will suffer the most from the DEI rollbacks—and they’ll have to deal with the effects for years to come.

As I shared on The Breakfast Club, getting on retail shelves is a hard-fought battle for Black entrepreneurs. If we stop buying, retailers have every reason to pull our products, setting us back even further. So yes, let’s hold corporations accountable.

But let’s also be intentional about supporting Black-owned businesses in every way we can—online, in-store, and through direct purchases. We control trillions in spending power. @RuckerRoots and many of these other brands are in multiple retail stores, many that have not rolled back DEI, and we have a strong online presence.

Hey y’all! 🌸 Thank you for following along – I’m so excited to have you here! I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself, especially since I’ve noticed some new faces.

I’m Ellen: wife, mom of three, CEO of @ruckerroots, and passionate advocate for reproductive rights and Donate Life. (Our daughter Sadie received a life-saving liver transplant at eight months old, which deepened my mission to give back.)

Faith is the foundation of my life, and I strive to live by the Golden Rule in everything I do. I’ve been blessed to wear many hats—chiropractor (though not currently practicing), serving on the national boards of the @americanliver Foundation and @plannedparenthood, and even starring in a reality TV show almost 10 years ago called *Love Thy Sister*.

I grew up in Lancaster, SC, in a big, close-knit family where love, laughter, and family gatherings were the heartbeat of our world. With 7 siblings, it was never dull! My sisters are my best friends, and my kids are my greatest gifts from God. I also share openly about my IVF journey and fertility struggles, hoping to connect with others facing similar challenges on my website.

Before becoming a twin mom (@thesellerstwins_ ) with the love of my life, @bakarisellers, I was a collegiate cheerleader at the @uncchapelhill, where we won a national championship my junior year. That’s where I met Vince. We married and had our daughter, @_kaicarter, and after our divorce, we worked hard to co-parent and create a positive, loving environment for her. I’m proud of the blended family we’ve created, where love and understanding are at the core.

Life has been a beautiful, messy journey full of growth, love, and perseverance. I’m grateful to continue sharing this story with all of you. I’ve got so much to share, and I’m here for the work, the joy, and the lessons ahead.

Hey Y’all! Our crew is taping an appearance on National TV next week and we couldn’t be more excited!

I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes footage all day Monday night & Tuesday on my stories, so stay tuned! We’ll be talking all things, and our entire crew will be on national TV! The episode airs on Feb. 28! I will share which show next week, it’s going to be BiG!

For those who are new here, you might not know Sadie’s journey with Biliary Atresia, a rare liver disease that affects infants. If you see her now, you might not believe how much she suffered during her long wait for a new liver. #Donatelife
It was the hardest time in my life.

As I was prepping for the show, I came across old videos that reminded me of the scariest time and how resilient she/we were— and how we all stayed focus on our goal-saving our Sadie!

In case you’re feeling the weight of the world right now, here’s what helped me get through it:

1. Prayer and Meditation— I’d retreat to my closet, talk to God, and find peace.
2. Build Community Bonds— Our family was my foundation. Lean on friends, neighbors, and those who have your same goals in this chaotic world. Support each other!
3. Learn, Research & Advocate— Stay informed, stay educated, and never stop fighting for what’s right. I found strength in knowledge and relationships with every resource I could.
4. Plan— You can’t plan for everything, but make a family plan- like you are planning for a disaster. There is so much uncertainty right now!
5. Self-Care— Whatever it looks like for you, make sure to carve out time for yourself.
6. Fight Like Hell— This one’s for Sadie. From day one, even when she was at her sickest, she chose to smile, even when she felt too weak to lift her head. Her resilience kept me going.

We’re in tough times, y’all. It’s going to be hard on all of us. Many of you have already gone through so much, and made it. We’ll do it again. You are NOT alone in this. There’s power in the people — let’s keep pushing forward. 🙏🏽 💪🏽 #StayStrong
