Today I celebrate Life. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” -Luke 12:48. I tell my story not for pity but to educate and bring awareness to the voiceless. Black mothers in the US die at 3 to 4 times the rate of white mothers. The disparity between Black maternal mortality rate and white women is appalling. Bakari and I knew the statistics. By God’s grace, mercy, and favor, I am able to share my story.
